Mark 8:1-9 “For God so loved the world” is echoed in this account of Jesus’ teaching and then feeding a crowd of 4,000 people. Jesus is the Compassionate King, who here demonstrates His care and power to provide for those “who chose to be nourished by Jesus’ word rather than bread” (William Lane, 273).
