Jonah 1:1-10 As we begin this series on the Book of Jonah, our challenge will be to see through the amazing account of a man who was swallowed by a whale and lived to tell about it, and come to learn the message that God intended for Israel and for us. In these first verses, we see God coming to His prophet with a message to be delivered, but instead, Jonah pointed his feet away from God’s leading. The text records several times that Jonah was fleeing “from the presence of the LORD.” Jonah went down, down, down, but the LORD would not let him go until he had accomplished His will.
