2 Peter 1:1-4
“our God and Savior, Jesus Christ”– the Greek indicates this is One Person. Not our God and the Savior, Jesus (two distinct individuals) . . . but our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
“waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). Who will appear? God the Father and Jesus? No, we know it is Jesus who will be at last revealed in glory. Here it is “our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Peter will use this construction again three more times where it’s obviously talking only of one Person, 1:11; 2:20; 3:18- “our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Thus, according to the text of Scripture, not a theological system or a denominational position, according to Simon Peter the slave and apostle, Jesus our Savior is also Jesus our God!
